Garden Party
The initiation of the Corrales Landmark Tree program was celebrated at a "Garden Party" hosted by the Tree Preservation Committee on May 20, 2007 at the Corrales home of Penny and Bill Perkins. The event provided visitors with a delightful opportunity to enjoy the lovely garden while learning about the Village's new tree program. A display of photographs and information was featured, and Committee members were present to explain the program and the tree nomination process. Several visitors took advantage of the opportunity to nominate trees for Landmark status.
Local arborists, Bryan and Dodie Suhr, generously donated tree care consultations to help raise funds for the Committee. They were also available at the party to answer tree-related questions.
A wonderful spread of diverse and delicious foods was donated by local restaurants and shops.
Funds raised from the event supported the purchase of handsome plaques to identify Landmark Trees throughout the Village.
The Tree Preservation Committee looks forward to hosting another such party, hopefully in the spring of 2010, to further the cause of tree preservation in the Village, and to share another lovely day in the garden.
